Boolean Logic
Boolean Logic is a form of algebra where all values are reduced to either True or False. It’s used in business intelligence and data analytics to make clear-cut decisions and queries. Named after mathematician George Boole, this system of logic is the backbone of most computer systems and is crucial for filtering data. Think of it like setting up a super specific yes-or-no question about your data.
For example, if a business wants to know which customers are from New York and have spent more than $100, Boolean Logic is used to create a query that only includes customers meeting both conditions – they must be from New York (true) and they must have spent over $100 (true). This can dramatically simplify data analysis, allowing businesses to quickly segment and target their data for reporting and decision-making.
